bluebird bio Joins the Russell 2000® Index

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--bluebird bio, Inc. (Nasdaq:BLUE), a clinical-stage company committed to developing potentially transformative gene therapies for severe genetic and orphan diseases, today announced that the company has been added to the Russell 2000®, Russell 3000® and Russell Global® Indexes as part of Russell Investments’ third quarter IPO additions that took place after the market closed on September 30, 2013. The Russell 2000® Index measures the performance of the small-cap segment of the U.S. equity universe. The Russell 2000® is a subset of the Russell 3000® Index representing approximately 10% of the total market capitalization of that index. It includes approximately 2000 of the smallest securities based on a combination of their market cap and current index membership.
