BioUtah Seeks New Chief Executive Officer To Usher In Next Phase Of Life Science Support, Growth And Development
SALT LAKE CITY—Jan. 28, 2015—The board of directors of BioUtah today announced that it is seeking a new CEO to guide the progressive life science industry association to its next stage of regional, national and international growth and influence.
On February 5, a BioUtah CEO search and selection committee will begin screening candidates. This committee is looking for the right person to lead the organization that is at the center of one of the nation’s hottest biotech sectors. This committee will be led by committee chair, Gary Crocker, Merrimack Pharma’s chairman of the board and co-chair, Richard Linder, CEO of CoNextions Medical.
“We are seeking a savvy business leader with prior life science industry background and sound strategic judgment,” Crocker said. “Not only will this person have proven experience driving mission-critical initiatives on local, national and international levels, he or she should have experience with public policy and lobbying, be able to successfully engage in membership recruitment, community building and strategically interface with academic institutions. We are looking for someone with leadership strength to enable BioUtah to meet its aggressive growth goals and propel this organization into the future on a national and global stage.”
The BioUtah search and selection committee members include Jeffery Nelson, president and CEO of Nelson Laboratories; Dirksen Lehman, corporate vice president, public affairs of Edwards Lifesciences; Vivian Lee, senior vice president for Health Sciences at the University of Utah; John Langell, executive director for the Center for Medical Innovation at the University of Utah ; Val Hale, executive director of the Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED); and Ivy Eastabrooke, executive director of Utah Science Technology and Research initiative (USTAR).
The person selected as CEO will work with a stellar transition committee consisting of a range of life science, business, investor and government leaders whose expertise will help maintain stability and ensure a smooth transition.
Upon hire, the successful candidate will need to reside full-time in Utah. Compensation is commensurate with experience. Position is open immediately and will remain open until filled.
