The National Institutes of Health has agreed to grant $16.7 million to the Delaware Biotechnology Institute and its academic and health care partners to do 15 different research projects, develop state-of-the-art facilities and breed a new generation of local biotechnology professionals. It is the biggest single grant by the institutes to a Delaware institution, officials said. The grant, to be distributed over five years, will be used to help pay for collaborative work between the institutes and researchers at University of Delaware, Delaware State University, Delaware Technical and Community College, Wesley College and the Christiana Care Health System.
