BioStorage Technologies, Inc. Showcases First-Ever Mobile Biorepository - Relofleet™ at Drug Information Association Annual Meeting

INDIANAPOLIS, June 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- At this year's Drug Information Association Annual Meeting (DIA), BioStorage Technologies will showcase Relofleet - the first mobile biorepository designed specifically for sample relocation within North America. This novel sample transport technology allows for the customized transportation of entire sample inventories and associated equipment, while assuring the shipment reaches its destination on time and in optimal condition.

The custom-made, 53-foot trailer accommodates all temperatures from frozen to room temperature and is capable of simultaneously transporting a multitude of biomaterials, clinical trial samples, API and manufactured drugs. Equipped with redundant generator systems, the unit also allows BioStorage Technologies to transport freezers and refrigerators with or without samples.

Relofleet contains a built-in, mobile workstation that conforms to FDA 21 CFR Part 11 compliance standards and provides audit tracking of samples from site-to-site within the BioStorage Technologies ISSIS (Intelligent Specimen Inventory Storage System) database. Sample asset security is provided in-transit via 360 degree internal and external tracking and monitoring provided by 12 security cameras.

"Designed to respond to a growing need for compliant and cost-effective solutions for shipping temperature-sensitive biological samples and materials, Relofleet is the first of its kind," said Russ Hager, Global Director of Supply Chain, BioStorage Technologies.

"With its multiple uses and innovative technology, Relofleet allows our specialized team of logistics experts to provide door-to-door, full-scale support during the entire sample lifecycle management process."

As with all of BioStorage Technologies' processes and systems, Relofleet is validated to adhere to U.S. Food and Drug Administration regulations and the U.S. Department of Transportation guidelines.

Showcased for the first time at the DIA conference, Relofleet will be available for tours Monday June 20th from 6:30 8:00 p.m. at McCormick Place. In addition, Lori Ball, Chief Operating Officer at BioStorage Technologies, will be presenting a scientific poster titled "Best Practices for Designing and Implementing Effective Data Capture of Clinical Trial Samples and Associated Data." The poster will highlight validated data from a recent pilot study conducted by BioStorage Technologies and a leading drug developer. BioStorage Technologies will be exhibiting at booth #1443 as well.
