The initiative features both promotional and functional components to work in conjunction with the economic and workforce development initiatives of the region. The much anticipated Bio NC Hotbed Map, http://biospace.com/hotbed/maps/bionc_map.aspx, created by BioSpace’s artist, displays the logos and building pictures of participating companies. Various print collateral pieces featuring the iconic Bio NC image will be distributed to life science professionals at regional and international events throughout the year. The map is also available for download on the Bio NC Homepage, http://biospace.com/hotbed.aspx?RegionID=20 which maintains critical daily biopharmaceutical industry news and information from the region.

A number of different types of organizations are featured as part of the campaign, reflective of the diverse set of foci and talents necessary to grow a life science cluster. The effort includes bioscience companies engaged in R&D, service and supply providers to the community, and also research institutes, non-profit organizations and universities. Detailed online profiles of the participating organizations include contact information, career opportunities, financial updates and history, and can be found through the Bio NC Homepage.

“We are pleased to once again partner with BioSpace to showcase the state’s vibrant life science economy,” said CED President Monica Doss. “From stem cell research to medical devices to diagnostics to drug discovery and alternative energy, North Carolina plays an increasingly important role in the national and global life science community.”

“With the launch of the fifth edition of the Bio NC Hotbed, BioSpace and the global community continue to recognize the impact and growth of the biopharmaceutical industry in North Carolina over the past 6 years,” said Wes Crews, CEO of BioSpace. “We are pleased to offer the BioSpace audience a direct channel to the news, products and careers from the region.”
