Biospace Lab and the Centre for Advanced Biomedical Imaging at University College London to Collaborate on Development of Novel Real-Time in Vivo Optical Imaging Technologies

3/7/2012 8:36:37 AM

PARIS and LONDON, March 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --

Biospace Lab S.A. and the Centre for Advanced Biomedical Imaging at University College London will collaborate on the development of novel real-time in vivo optical imaging applications and further development of the Biospace Lab PhotonIMAGER Optima pre-clinical imaging platform. The collaboration will bringing together UCL experts in imaging, Dr Mark Lythgoe, and molecular probes, Dr Martin Pule, together with expertise from Biospace Lab S.A. to develop novel Molecular Imaging technologies for biomedical research applications. The initial focus will be on further method development in luminescence imaging and the integration of in vivo optical imaging with other in vivo imaging modalities, but it is hoped that the 3 year collaboration will additionally support a range of Biomedical research projects at UCL.

"We are very excited by the opportunity to combine our expertise with that of CABI and we are convinced that this synergistic partnership will open up many new possibilities for developments in pre-clinical Molecular Imaging, thereby expanding the range of imaging solutions offered to the biomedical research community by our unique technologies" says Dr. Olivier Merle, CEO of Biospace Lab.

"The exquisite level of sensitivity afforded by luminescence imaging places it at the cornerstone of preclinical imaging. This partnership reflects our desire to collaborate with companies that share our aims: the development and application of novel in vivo imaging technologies. I believe that the new PhotonIMAGER Optima system will prove to be essential in probing tissue structure and function in our experimental imaging armoury at UCL." says Dr Mark Lythgoe, Director of the UCL Centre for Advanced Biomedical Imaging (CABI)
