Sponsored by MBC, Biogen Idec, and Wyeth Bio Pharma, Genetown is a unique branding and awareness campaign highlighting the organizations that constitute the dynamic bio-pharmaceutical industry of Massachusetts.

BioScience companies Pfizer Research Technology Center and AstraZeneca, service providers Perkin Elmer and Randstad, and law firms Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner LLP and Peabody Nixon LLP, are among the life science-related organizations featured in the campaign. The effort also features research institutes, non-profit organizations and universities within the area.

“The life science community of Massachusetts continues to surge forward in the research, discovery, and development of innovative processes and products. The MBC and its many partners have created a local collaborative model which spurs spectacular science and robust economic opportunity,” said Thomas M. Finneran, President, Massachusetts Biotechnology Council.

The campaign features the iconic Genetown Map, created by BioSpace’s professional artist, which displays the corporate logos and facilities of participating organizations. The map is further enhanced through the integration of many functional components, including a Genetown Hotbed Homepage on BioSpace’s industry leading Website, BioSpace.com. Copies of the Genetown Map are available through BioSpace.

“Massachusetts is the academic hub of the world, and continues to lead in the development of new technologies for the life sciences,” said Brian Vacanti, Division Manager of BioSpace. “The 2006 Genetown campaign accurately reflects the impressive state of the industry in this region. Along with MBC and various other organizations, BioSpace is excited to be a part of the area's growth in the biotechnology industry and the global marketplace.”
