Scientists have designed a protective material that could deliver bacteria or drugs through the stomach into the intestine. Researchers from Wolverhampton University have created a novel biopolymer to shuttle ’probiotics’ — micro-organisms that some claim are beneficial to human health — through the digestive system without being destroyed by stomach acid.
