BioGenerator Makes Second Investment In SynerZ Medical

Company developing device for Obesity and Type 2 diabetes patients

ST. LOUIS – February 20, 2015 – BioGenerator, an evergreen investor that creates, grows and invests in promising companies and entrepreneurs, has made a second investment in SynerZ Medical, a medical device company developing an alternative to bariatric surgery for obesity as well as obese and non-obese patients with Type 2 diabetes.

“Diabetes affects more than 29 million people in the United States, with the majority diagnosed with Type 2,” said Charlie Bolten, vice president for BioGenerator. “SynerZ’s solution will offer an alternative to gastric bypass surgery for many of these patients. BioGenerator sees strong market potential for SynerZ.”

“The investment from BioGenerator allows SynerZ to continue development of our device with the goal of bringing to market a safer, less intrusive and less expensive alternative to gastric bypass surgery,” said James Bachman COO of SynerZ. “We are extremely grateful for BioGenerator and other private investors in the St. Louis region who continue to support the vision of the company as well as finance our research and development.”

SynerZ’s leadership team has extensive experience in developing and building medical device companies along with raising capital. This most recent round of funding also included investments from Missouri Technology Corporation, Helix Fund and private investors.

BioGenerator’s portfolio includes several promising medical device companies, including SynerZ, Cardialen, Pulse Therapeutics and MediBeacon. In 2014, BioGenerator invested $700,000 in medical device companies alone.
