BioData Inc. Appoints Adam Sartiel as CEO

11/14/2012 6:57:13 AM

TEL AVIV, ISRAEL--(Marketwire - November 14, 2012) -

BioData, developer of Labguru, a life science research and lab management service, announces the appointment of Adam Sartiel as the company's new CEO. Sartiel brings with him extensive experience from innovative life science companies, including Life Technologies and Compugen. BioData is supported by Digital Science, a technology company of Macmillan Publishers Ltd that is focused on making scientific research more efficient.

"We want to continue to focus on developing new features for our life science users, and also aggressively expand into new markets and collaborations. Adding Sartiel to our team allows us to better manage these efforts," said Jonathan Gross, founder and now former co-CEO of BioData. Gross will now serve as the company's Chief Technology Officer and former co-CEO Danny Klein will serve as the Chief Operations Officer.

"I appreciate the trust that Jonathan Gross, Danny Klein and Digital Science showed in choosing me to lead BioData," said Sartiel. "Researchers are increasingly interested in more effective project management, as well as better preservation and sharing of scientific knowledge within the lab, in order to up their productivity and output. Our Labguru research and lab management service answers exactly those needs and is built specifically for life science research teams."

Sartiel joins BioData after 15 years as an executive in both Israeli and American biotechnology companies. Sartiel most recently served as Invitrogen's (now Life Technologies) Israel Site Manager, responsible for all research and development and business operations. In addition, Sartiel held various sales, marketing and business development positions at the bioinformatics company Compugen.

Sartiel is a graduate of the Tel-Aviv University Interdisciplinary program and holds a Masters degree in Molecular Genetics, as well as an MBA. Sartiel was part of the Shiloh team at the university who discovered the ATM gene that helps control cell growth and responses to chemicals and radiation, work that was published in 1995 in Science.
