BioCon Limited Opens Biologics Research Center; Will Hire 300 Scientists

Biocon will hire about 300 scientists within the next one year for its Rs 200-crore biologics research centre. Biologics is the science of making medicinal products from living organisms. An equal number of scientists already work in the research facility, which was formally opened on Thursday by Prof Kurt Wuthrich, who won the Nobel prize for chemistry in 2002. Ms Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Chairman and Managing Director, Biocon Group said: "We plan to pursue an innovation-led effort to develop advanced yet affordable solutions for several debilitating diseases through this research centre."Prof Wuthrich said: "I am enthralled with Biocon's research capabilities which are at par with international standards.
