“Each of the accomplished leaders who have joined our board has deep ties to the LA life science industry, and their guidance on our strategic vision will be invaluable as we build on the success of our programs and services already benefiting our members,” said Dina Lozofsky, executive director of Biocom’s downtown Los Angeles office. “In the year and a half since we launched our LA office, our advocacy efforts and support of elected and appointed officials have created a new awareness of the economic impact and high potential of the life science industry in LA.”

Los Angeles County received $893 million in research funding from the National Institutes of Health in fiscal year 2016 and the industry directly or indirectly employs more than 231,000 people from five subsectors, according to Biocom’s 2017 Economic Impact Report.

“The Los Angeles life science industry is in a significant growth phase with particular strength in biopharmaceuticals, medical device, digital health and life science wholesale trade,” said Joe Panetta, president and CEO of Biocom. “As a unifying force for our state, Biocom is uniquely qualified to provide the tools to help California’s life science industry expand. As the largest life science association in the Golden State, we have the deepest bench of experienced talent and a legacy of success that we are excited to bring to bear in Los Angeles.”
