BIO2015: New Coalition Opens Access to Massachusetts Research Hospitals’ Data

A new partnership between a group of Massachusetts hospitals and a life science group is aiming to create a new system access the state’s research hospital data, it was announced at the BIO International conference in Philadelphia today.
Under the terms of the deal, the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center, the Conference of Boston Teaching Hospitals (COBTH), and the University of Massachusetts Memorial Medical Center announced Tuesday they will create a centralized system for industry and academia to access the state’s research data.
The coalition announced the change in The Massachusetts Pavilion at BIO.
The Massachusetts Life Sciences Center (MLSC) is charged with implementing a 10-year, $1-billion, state-funded investment initiative for life sciences innovation, research, development and commercialization.
“These investments create jobs and support advances that improve health and well-being. The MLSC offers the nation’s most comprehensive set of incentives and collaborative programs targeted to the life sciences ecosystem,” said the organization in a statement.
“These programs propel the growth that has made Massachusetts the global leader in life sciences. The MLSC creates new models for collaboration and partners with organizations, both public and private, around the world to promote innovation in the life sciences.”
The Conference of Boston Teaching Hospitals (COBTH) is a coalition of 14 Boston area teaching hospitals, and acts as an advocate for policies favorable to academic medicine and the economy of the Commonwealth.
UMass Memorial Medical Center is the one of the region’s key academic medical centers.

Companies seeking to explore partnership opportunities with Massachusetts AMC’s can complete the online form, which will then be reviewed by the the AMCs for review.
