ROCHESTER, N.Y., Nov. 13 — Baylor University Medical Center (Dallas, Texas) recently purchased two CARESTREAM DRX-Revolution Mobile X-ray Systems that will provide rapid access to X-ray images for surgeons working in 56 surgical suites. With 1,065 licensed beds, Baylor University Medical Center serves as the flagship hospital of Baylor Health Care System and is a major patient care, teaching and research center for the Southwest.
“The DRX-Revolution will enable us to image patients quickly and safely in our busy surgical suite because of its superb maneuverability, collapsible column for increased visibility and exceptional image quality and ease of use,” said Stephan Lopez, M.S., RT (R), Director of Radiology Imaging, Baylor University Medical Center.
The hospital already installed a wireless CARESTREAM DRX-1 detector that is used in an outpatient room equipped with an analog X-ray system. “With the DRX detector, images are available over a wireless network in about five seconds, which can expedite diagnosis and treatment. This also eliminates the time-consuming process of transporting cassettes to a CR system for processing,” said Tina Harvey, RT (R), the hospital’s Radiology Manager.
The hospital has ordered a DRX-Evolution DR Room with a wall stand and elevating table for a room that performs a variety of inpatient and outpatient procedures. “We saw the DRX-Evolution in use during a visit to another facility and were extremely impressed with its versatility and ease of use,” Lopez added. “The detector is light and it’s much easier for technologists to position correctly because the detector offers a full field of view. Detectors that are larger than the size of the image they capture are more difficult to work with.”
The CARESTREAM DRX-Revolution Mobile X-ray System is a versatile mobile X-ray system that features a small footprint, exceptional maneuverability, excellent image quality and wireless transmission of medical exams. This system’s easy-to-use interface can help improve productivity and tubehead monitor allows technologists to remain at the bedside during the imaging process.
The DRX-Evolution DR Room offers configurable, modular components that combine to fit each facility’s space, workflow and budget. The system performs a wide variety of general radiographic exams with remarkable convenience, productivity and patient comfort.
The CARESTREAM DRX-1 System offers a quick, easy and affordable way to transition to digital radiography. Based on the unique X-Factor platform, a wireless DR detector simply slides into existing X-ray equipment and can be used with in-room and portable DRX imaging systems throughout your facility.
