B. Braun Medical Ltd. To Launch Interactive Comparative Cost Model At ASRA

BETHLEHEM, PA--(Marketwired - May 07, 2015) - B. Braun Medical Inc. (B.Braun), the market leader in Regional Anesthesia (RA) announced today that it will be launching a new interactive comparative cost model, T-COMP, at the 40th Annual American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine (ASRA) Meeting, exhibit booth #217 in the Caesars Palace Hotel on Friday, May 15 in Las Vegas, NV. T-COMP is the result of extensive market research focused on the approximate costs and reimbursements associated with CPNBs (Continuous Peripheral Nerve Blocks) when compared with a new bupivacaine liposome.

The following are key features of B.Braun's T-COMP model:

  • broad-based to address a wide-range of reimbursement situations in Hospital Inpatient, Hospital Outpatient and Ambulatory Surgery Center facilities for two types of surgeries: total knee arthroplasty and surgeries involving a midline abdominal incision.
  • methodology based on primary research including interviews with anesthesiologists, surgeons, medical/surgical nurses and hospital pharmacists, with support from published secondary sources.
  • interactive model is customizable to a facility's approximate payer mix and complication rates, as well as drug and device costs.

"B.Braun has been a longstanding pioneer in the development and manufacturing of safe and effective RA devices, and most recently for raising the awareness of the clinical benefits of CPNBs. T-COMP continues this tradition by providing the RA community with an interactive model to more objectively compare costs associated with multi-modal post-op pain management," said Brad Lane, Vice President, Critical Care Marketing at B.Braun. "The choice of modalities depends on the surgery, the patient and the experience of the surgeon and anesthesiologist, as well as the need for a controlled duration of analgesia. T-COMP is interactive to reflect these multi-modal choices," added Lane.

B.Braun will also showcase the following products and educational initiatives at booth #217 during ASRA, May 14-16:

  • B-Smart™ peripheral nerve block (PNB) injection pressure monitor - provides a visual indication of an objective injection pressure measurement to create a last line of defense for more informed decisions on how to proceed with an injection.
  • Injection Safety Monitoring (ISM) - the concept of using all available monitors to help create a safe PNB injection.
  • CPNB products (Echogenic) - Contiplex® Echo styleted catheter & Tuohy system and Contiplex® C catheter-over-needle system.
  • Clinical Product Training - instruction provided to help educate customers on the safe and effective use of B.Braun's Contiplex catheter products.
