BETHLEHEM, Pa., June 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- B. Braun Medical Inc. (B.Braun) proudly announced today that it has received the 2014 Governor's ImPAct Award for its "Community Impact." The Governor's ImPAct Awards recognized 50 companies throughout the state in five categories: Jobs First, Community Impact, Small Business Impact, Entrepreneurial Impact and Export Impact. The awardees were chosen by an independent judging panel selected by the state's partners, Team Pennsylvania Foundation (Team PA) and Journal Multimedia.

Nominations for each award were provided by the state's regional economic development partners the Partnerships for Regional Economic Performance (PREP) network. All 10 PREP regions were eligible to submit up to five nominations per category. A total of 247 nominations were received. The Corbett administration developed the PREP network to regionalize and coordinate local economic development services to businesses and entrepreneurs.

"We are truly honored to receive this year's Governor's ImPAct Award and we thank the judging panel for selecting B.Braun amongst so many other worthy finalists," said Caroll H. Neubauer, Chairman and CEO at B.Braun Medical Inc. "One of our key guiding principles behind our community activity is being a good corporate citizen, which includes our commitment to social responsibility. We have cultivated a strong culture of caring at B.Braun and receiving this award is a testament to our employees who are committed to helping improve the quality of life in the communities in which they work and live," added Neubauer.

At B.Braun, we truly believe that we are making a difference in our community. One particular initiative that we are very proud of is when our employees teamed up with Pennsylvania's Catasauqua Area High School to participate in their Career Awareness Course, back in September 2010. This ongoing program is designed to provide ninth-graders with a real-world look at the connection between education and careers, was lauded by educators and business leaders. The partnership program received such acclaim that it was presented at the Lehigh Valley Business and Education Partnership Summit. Several educators from around the State expressed interest in engaging in similar programs in their respective schools. In the Spring of 2011, school superintendents toured our manufacturing facility and networked with local business leaders to discuss implementing this program at other companies.

In addition to the Career Awareness Course, B.Braun is proud to implement and pilot a Rotational Internship program. This internship program allows for students at local technical schools the opportunity to gain hands on manufacturing experience with local employers to better prepare them for their future roles in the community.

B.Braun also supports a myriad of local, regional and national organizations. We are particularly proud to be a supporter of several outstanding charities and organizations such as the American Heart Association, Boy Scouts of America, Good Shepherd Rehabilitation, Lehigh Valley Health Network, St. Luke's Health Network, United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley and via of the Lehigh Valley.
