ALACHUA, FL – June 4, 2013 – AxoGen, Inc. (OTCBB: AXGN), a leading regenerative medicine company focused on the commercialization of proprietary products and technologies for peripheral nerve reconstruction and regeneration, today announced Health Canada Approval for AxoGuard® Nerve Connector and AxoGuard® Nerve Protector. The AxoGuard® Products, along with AxoGen’s proprietary Avance® Nerve Graft, were featured at the Company’s booth at the 67th Annual Meeting of the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons, which was held May 28 to June 1, 2013, in Calgary, Alberta. AxoGen will utilize its existing distribution partner in Canada to sell the products.

AxoGen CEO Karen Zaderej commented, “With the Health Canada approval for our AxoGuard® Products, we now have the opportunity to sell our full nerve repair portfolio in Canada. We featured the products at the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons’ annual meeting, highlighting the unique benefits that Avance® Nerve Graft and the AxoGuard® Products offer to plastic surgeons specializing in microsurgery. This is a key demographic for our products, and we are pleased with the positive reception we received from the surgeons in attendance. ”

AxoGuard® Nerve Connector and AxoGuard® Nerve Protector are derived from porcine submucosa extracellular matrix. AxoGuard® Nerve Connector is a coaptation aid for tensionless repair of severed nerves, and AxoGuard® Nerve Protector is used to wrap and protect injured peripheral nerves and reinforce coaptation sites while preventing soft tissue attachments. Both products are manufactured in the United States by Cook Biotech Incorporated, West Lafayette, Indiana, and are distributed exclusively by AxoGen.

The AxoGuard® Products are complementary to AxoGen’s Avance® Nerve Graft, the only commercially available processed nerve allograft for bridging nerve discontinuities (gaps created when nerves are severed), which is available in the US, Canada, Austria, Italy and Switzerland.
