13 September 2013 -- AusBiotech is urging anyone with a keen interest in biotech, innovation, and business strategy to register now for its annual conference being held from 30 October - 1 November 2013. For the first time in six years the conference is returning to Brisbane; a perfect excuse to combine business and brain-boosting, with a hefty helping of sunshine.

The conference will be hosted at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre and is expected to attract more than 1,200 delegates from across the globe. It features an impressive program of networking and learning opportunities and is the premier industry event on the Australia and Asia Pacific calendar.

An impressive line-up of industry leaders will attend, including Associate Professor Charlie Teo, Professor Ian Frazer, and Professor Matthew Brown. The event will bring together a world-class brains trust and foster forward thinking for the whole sector.

This year’s theme, bio-economy in transition, presents an opportunity to explore the transformation of the Australian industry as it evolves and adapts to current global forces. Key speakers and interactive panel sessions will explore many elements of this theme, including:

Changing international laws and regulations on a global scale (including patent law);

The influence of social and digital media in developing biotechnology;

The global economic landscape;

Techniques to successfully source capital and fund good ideas;

Government policy that supports the development of the bio-economy.

The conference will also host a one-day Agriculture and Food Biotechnology Symposium, which will focus on the link between agricultural biotechnology and food on 1 November.
