Hussong will be taking over the responsibility from Sherrie Perkins, MD, PhD. Perkins will transition into senior vice president, research and development; co-executive director, ARUP Institute for Clinical and Experimental Pathology; and division head of clinical pathology in the Department of Pathology at the University of Utah School of Medicine.

Dr. Hussong earned his DDS, MS, and MD degrees from Northwestern University and completed a pathology residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He completed a hematopathology fellowship at the University of Utah and ARUP, followed by two years as an assistant professor of pathology in Utah. After several years in private practice in Las Vegas, he was the director of hematopathology and clinical laboratory operations at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles from 2008 to 2012.

"Having served as both an ARUP medical director and an ARUP client, Dr. Hussong brings a diversified perspective to this position. He will provide excellent leadership for ARUP," said Edward Ashwood, MD, ARUP president and CEO.
