Are Drug-Eluting Stents Dangerous?

September 13, 2006 -- In a large-scale analysis of several studies, researchers found an increased risk of complications for patients receiving drug-eluting stents, compared to patients receiving older bare-metal stents. The complications include heart attacks and strokes due to blood clots, which can occur long after implantation of the stent.
