Angiotech Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Release: Acquisition Notification Requirements In Compliance With Hart-Scott-Rodino Act

VANCOUVER, March 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - Angiotech Pharmaceuticals, Inc. was advised yesterday by the Federal Trade Commission that the waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976 ("HSR Act") has terminated, allowing Angiotech to proceed with the previously announced acquisition of privately-held American Medical Instruments Holdings, Inc. (AMI), subject to the satisfaction of the remaining closing conditions.

On February 16, 2006, Angiotech Pharmaceuticals, Inc. announced that it had filed notification with the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission of its intent to acquire AMI, in compliance with the pre-merger notification requirements of the HSR Act.
