Andor Announces Judges for Insight Awards Competition

Belfast, Northern Ireland, 28th February 2013: Andor Technology plc today announced the judges for the 2013 Insight Awards imaging competition. The panel is made up of world renowned researchers in the fields of both physical and life sciences, reflecting the competition’s goal of recognising the cutting edge research conducted by scientists using both Andor and Bitplane products.

There are three categories in this year’s competition - life science, physical science and Imaris; judges will be evaluating each image based on several factors including the entries scientific significance and visual impact.

The judges for the competition are:

• Dr. Robert Marshall - Department of Electrical Engineering, Stanford University, California, USA

• Dr. Satoshi Nishimura - Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, University of Tokyo, Japan

• Dr. Gábor Csúcs - Institute for Biochemistry, Zürich, Switzerland

• Dr. Donal Denvir - One of the original founders of Andor, who is chiefly responsible for setting the future technical direction of the company

Due to popular demand the deadline for the awards has been extended to 12:00 midnight GMT on the 15th March 2013. Submissions can include images, spectra, graphics and movies with the winners of each section having the choice of either an Apple iPad or Microsoft Surface. Researchers and their entries will benefit from additional publicity surrounding the competition in relevant trade publications.
