Anadys Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Appoints Brian S. Posner to Its Board of Directors

SAN DIEGO, Aug. 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Anadys Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (Nasdaq: ANDS) announced today the appointment of Brian S. Posner to its Board of Directors. Mr. Posner is currently a private investor and the President and Founder of Point Rider Group LLC. He previously served as the Chief Executive Officer and co-Chief Investment Officer of ClearBridge Advisors LLC, and has over 20 years of professional asset management experience during which he was widely recognized for his value approach to investing.

Mr. Posner has been a private investor since March 2008 and is the President of Point Rider Group LLC. From 2005 to March 2008, he served as the Chief Executive Officer and co-Chief Investment Officer of ClearBridge Advisors LLC, an asset management company and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Legg Mason. During Mr. Posner's tenure, ClearBridge had approximately $90 billion in assets under management. Mr. Posner co-founded Hygrove Partners LLC, a private investment fund, in 2000 and served as its Managing Partner for five years. He served as a portfolio manager and an analyst at Fidelity Investments from 1987 to 1996 and, from 1997 to 1999, at Warburg Pincus Asset Management/Credit Suisse Asset Management where he also served as co-Chief Investment Officer and Director of Research. Mr. Posner is a member of the board of directors of Biogen Idec Inc. and Arch Capital Group Ltd. Mr. Posner holds an undergraduate degree in history from Northwestern University and an M.B.A. in finance from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
