Airport Main Reason Delcath Systems, Inc. (DCTH) Chose Galway, Creating New Jobs

8/17/2011 6:45:57 AM

The CEO of a medical devices company in the process of setting up their European base in Galway has pointed to Galway Airport as one of the main reasons they chose to set up in Galway. Delcath Systems, Inc., a speciality pharmaceutical and medical device company, recently announced its Galway move, which will initially create 14 new jobs in the areas of marketing, sales and logistic support. The establishment of the new operation will support the company’s commercial launch of its Hepatic CHEMOSAT Delivery System in Europe. With a broad indication for the administration of melphalan hydrochloride to the liver, the Hepatic CHEMOSAT Delivery System may ultimately fulfil an annual unmet clinical need for as many as 100,000 patients with cancers in the liver across 30 European countries. The new headquarters are expected to be fully operational by the final quarter of 2011.
