Solvay SA To Buy France's Fournier Pharma For 1.6 Billion Euros ($2.09 billion)

BRUSSELS, Belgium - Belgian pharmaceuticals and chemicals giant Solvay SA announced Thursday that it plans to buy France's fifth-largest pharmaceutical company Fournier Pharma for 1.3 billion euros ($1.7 billion) in cash.
Solvay signed a memorandum of understanding with privately owned Fournier and expects to complete the deal in the summer following a one-month due diligence process and approval from relevant competition authorities, including French and European Union (news - web sites) regulators.
