10/19/2005 5:12:39 PM

A research group led by Dr Christophe Bonny, Chief Scientific Officer of Xigen S.A., has been granted a prestigious award from Switzerland’s Pfizer Research Award Foundation. The group received the Pfizer Research Award 2005 in the category Neurosciences and Central Nervous System Disorders for its ground breaking work on neuroprotection by inhibition of the JNK pathway, one of the major regulators of cell death. The group’s research had led to the discovery and development of XG-102, a powerful novel compound that may pave the way for a new class of molecules to treat stroke and potentially other diseases. The Pfizer Research Award for Medicine is awarded every year to outstanding young scientists who have achieved exceptional and promising results in fundamental and clinical research at Swiss research institutes or clinics.
