PharmaDirections President Richard Soltero To Discuss Issues And Case Studies Of Virtual CROs

10/19/2005 5:12:35 PM

Raleigh, NC - January 21, 2005 -Dr. Richard Soltero, president of PharmaDirections, Inc. www.PharmaDirections.com, will address the Pharmaceutical Outsourcing Management Association's (POMA) 10th Annual Meeting Feb. 8-10, 2005, at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla at Aventine in San Diego. Dr. Soltero will present "Pre-Clinical Outsourcing Issues and Case Studies" as part of the annual event.

Dr. Soltero is scheduled to speak on Wednesday, Feb. 9, and will discuss how the concept of virtual contract research organizations (CROs) can add significant value to biotechnology and small pharmaceutical companies by reducing their development timelines, making best use of working capital, increasing valuation, and accelerating investor return. In addition, he will present skills and tactics essential to working effectively with traditional CROs and managing their costs.

"This is a chance for PharmaDirections to present new techniques and tactics for working with CROs," said Dr. Soltero. "I will show how a virtual CRO model saves time and money for clients who are engaged in drug development activities."

Dr. Soltero said PharmaDirections offers a virtual CRO model that allows clients to access top scientists in specialty areas that are geographically dispersed across the globe. This team can use existing manufacturing facilities for clinical trial material production without the overhead cost of maintaining and staffing these facilities full time. He said this model provides biotech and pharmaceutical companies with the ability to successfully develop drug candidates with minimal capital investment and without the heavy investment of labs, personnel and fixed expenses.

The POMA Annual Meeting is entitled "Trends in Biopharmaceutical Outsourcing: Clinical and Manufacturing Outsourcing in Pharmaceutical and Biotech Companies" and will be presented in an interactive format, allowing open dialogue among presenters and attendees.
