MWG Biotech AG Introduces THEQ LifeCycler - The New Intelligent PCR Standard

EBERSBERG, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 23, 2004--With the new THEQ LifeCycler series MWG Biotech AG (FWB:NWU) has set a completely new thermocycler standard in its PCR core business. The new system's combination of server and workstation modules and virtual networking capabilities allow for individual PCR workload definition with efficient centralized operation. This enables customers to implement their own flexible PCR solutions for their individual requirements, while at the same time offering ultimate user comfort.

THEQ PCR Convenience

With a 5.7 inch full colour display THEQ features the largest colour touch screen to date. The unique Programming Wizard(TM) interface programming is so self explanatory that the system can be operated virtually without ever having to consult the manual. Additional features are one click conversion from standard protocol to gradient protocol, and virtual networking that allows programming at desktop, laptop or bench plus easy program transfer via USB stick. Documentation options are from comprehensive encrypted GLP report to straightforward lab book reporting and barcode handling. Together with multi level user management, THEQ is the ideal tool for setting up SOPs and working in GLP standard.

THEQ Technical Features

With eight peltier heating units and the unique feature of four independently controlled temperature zones THEQ's thermal engine ensures superior temperature control and uniformity. ASP active sample protection cools samples until the lid is fully heated to avoid unspecific binding. A unique lifting block design hermetically seals the sample plate to create perfect temperature and pressure distribution. The lid pressure is automatically adjusted for tubes or plates.

THEQ is available in three block styles: 96 and 384 well PCR plates and 0.2 and 0.5 micron liter individual tubes. All systems are robot compatible for integration into MWG Biotech's successful range of THEONYX lab automation systems. THEQ will be live at the MWG Biotech booths on Forum Labo, Paris, March 23 to 26, and on Analytica, Munich, in May 11 to 14, 2004.
