Nellcor Continues Its Commitment To Education Through 2004 U.S. Nursing School Donations

10/19/2005 5:11:28 PM

PLEASANTON, Calif., May 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Nellcor, the market leader and global innovator of intelligent pulse oximetry solutions, today announced that it will continue its partnership with the American Association of Critical- Care Nurses (AACN) and the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE) to facilitate the donation of advanced-technology Nellcor(R) pulse oximeters and educational resources to nursing schools nationwide. Pulse oximeters provide a fast, accurate and non-invasive method to assess a patient's physiological condition based on oxygen levels in the blood.

The company partnered with AACN and AONE in 2003 and sent pulse oximeters and educational materials to 150 U.S. nursing schools. Based on the tremendous success of last year's donation program, Nellcor will again donate technology and educational resources in 2004. AACN and AONE are collaborating with each other to identify schools in need of these resources and facilitate the distribution of donations. Schools that receive donations will also receive additional resource materials from both associations.

"Since its very beginnings Nellcor has been committed to supporting clinical education. We are very pleased to continue this tradition through our ongoing partnership with AACN and AONE," said Dan Roth, director of oximetry marketing, Nellcor. "Nursing schools from across the United States have contacted us to express their gratitude and tell us how these donations have made a positive impact on the education of their students."
