Eiken Chemical Co., Ltd. And NIID Use "H5-LAMP Method" To Develop New Highly-Sensitive Detection Reagent For AI

Eiken Chemical has announced that it has developed a new reagent to detect highly-pathogenic avian influenza (AI) virus using the "H5-LAMP method" in collaboration with the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIID). Based on Eiken Chemical's LAMP method, the new reagent can detect the subtype H5 avian influenza in about 30 minutes either by turbidimetric measurement or visual observation. Compared to the RT-PCR test currently used by NIID, the new method can increase detection sensitivity 50- to 500-fold.
