Genomatix Adds Cell-Based Knockins To Its Vector Application Services

10/19/2005 5:11:36 PM

Genomatix Corporation has announced the addition of Cell-Based Knockins to its growing list of DNA vector applications. Cell knockins allow life scientists to compare the effects of adding new or modified genetic materials into the functional context of a total gene knockout. The knockout/knockin modification is accomplished in a two step process involving a single allele knockout of a targeted gene followed by knockin of new or modified genetic material at the same locus on the second allele. The result is a knockin cell line which is homozygous for the gene knockout. There a many research opportunities for cell knockin applications, including the study of mutant forms of the knockout gene.
