University of California, Irvine Medical Center Signs With Impulse Monitoring, Inc. to Provide Supplemental Neuromonitoring Services

COLUMBIA, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Impulse Monitoring, Inc. (IMI), a leading provider of intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IONM) services to hospitals, today announced that it has signed an agreement with the University of California-Irvine Medical Center to provide supplemental IONM technologist and real-time physician oversight support services.

"Earning a position among the nation’s leading medical centers requires a concerted effort to strive for excellence in every way possible,” said Howard L. Kim, M.D., Neurology, University of California - Irvine Medical Center. “Impulse’s neuromonitoring will play an integral part in helping us continue this commitment to excellence in the surgical suite by providing us with as needed professional support to ensure the safest possible experience for our patients."

IONM assesses neurological function involving the brain, spinal cord and related nerve structures during such surgeries. Use of IONM facilitates the surgical process and can reduce surgical risk by providing alerts to surgeons of potential harm to the spinal cord or neural structures. Under the Impulse Monitoring model, technicians or neurophysiologists located in the operating room work in partnership with supervising physicians who oversee the interpretation of neurophysiological data gathered via real-time broadband transmission.
